We have a very early flight leaving at 6:40 am. Do we really need to be at the airport 3 hours in advance. Are there places close to the airport that we could stay and not have to spend too much for 1/2 a night?

There are several economical hotels close to CDG airport. All of them offer shuttle services to the airport (not free). Here is a short list of them :

The BB room is above other%26#39;s.
All of them offer cheap rates, 24/7 reception, multilingual TV channels. Premiere Classe offers free Wireless Internet in the rooms. BB offers free Wireless Access in lobby only.
There are many other hotels types and rates in the range between Etap hotel and the Sheraton that is really at the airport.
