Romantic weekend. Where's best?

Hi

Its my wife%26#39;s birthday in march and I%26#39;d like to take her away to france for a long weekend. She has never been but loves the idea of little french villages, vinyards and the whole french culture.

If we were to drive from London, where would be the best place to head for. A nice town with a few things to do would be preferabel to total isolation in the countryside but a nice mix would be great.

All help welcome. Cheers

If you are really wanting %26#39;vineyards%26#39; then the easiest area to visit for a long weekend would be the Champagne Region, main towns there are Reims, Epernay, Chalons-en-Champagne and Troyes. All have different reasons to recommend them, so perhaps do a little research on each for yourself, to see if there is one that fits the bill.

If you want somewhere closer to Calais, then try Montrueil-sur-Mer which is a very pretty small town. Otherwise you could go further along the Normandy Coast to somewhere like Honfleur, again this is very Picturesque, or Bayeux might be of interest to you with it%26#39;s famous Tapestry, and proximity to the Normandy Beaches.

This brilliant little website might give you a few good ideas:
