Visa problem

Hi

Could anyone help with my schengen visa problem. I%26#39;m an international student studying in [b]London[/b]. I planned a trip for several days to Iceland, but before going there I have to go to France to meet some of my friends who are travelling there from other countries. I need to go to France only for 1 day and then fly to Iceland from London. My problem is that I couldn%26#39;t get an appointment from Denmark embassy in time (Iceland doesn%26#39;t have an embassy in London),

will I have any problems if I get the visa from French embassy (I already booked an appointment)?

Will they even allow me to apply? I think they have a rule which says that if France is not the main destination country you shouldn%26#39;t apply to their embassy. But my friends who traveled a lot say that I can apply to the embassy of the schengen country which I enter first...

Would anyone be so kind and gave me a clue? :(
