Bonjour. Bringing husband and 3 girls for their first trip to Paris in June. Girls (10, 13, 14) are looking to see Notre Dame, Musee D%26#39;orsay, Louvre...looking for 3 star, clean hotel near metro. Security a must. Any suggestions? Would love to have only one hotel room and not book 2 rooms. Merci!!!

I don%26#39;t recall seeing any rooms for what equates to 5 adults. You really need 2 rooms just so you can have enough bathroom space for everybody, espec. considering there are 4 females :)
Here are a couple of hotels to start with...
Hotel des Mines, Latin Qtr

Dbls 98-146€ Triple 144-170€
Hotel Jeanne d%26#39;Arc, Marais

Dbls 90-116€ Triple 146€

%26quot;security a must%26quot; ,,,, why are you the %26quot;first family%26quot; LOL , sorry, just a joke, I am watching Obama in Hawaii and his security seems pretty low key. Paris is very safe so relax on that count.
It will be harder and more expensive to get a hotel with roomf for five, in fact, you are looking for a suite as I have never seen a single room for 5 before.
Renting an apartment is an option.
What is budget in euros per night,, otherwise it is rather useless of us to help if we are giving you suggestions that are unrealistic for you.

Thanks for your reply. Security a must becuz I am married to a native new yorker who is intrinsically a cynic, whereas I, a midwestern family doc
, think everything is quaint, including the drunk I try to resuscitate....anyway, would like to stay under $500 a night. Dont know a good apt. rental site and deplore the idea of a Marriott. Appreciate your advice. Thanks!

we (mom, dad, 3 girls - age 21,18,14) at Hotel D%26#39;Aubusson - very nice and they put us in a suite - we booked a smaller suite and they upgraded us to a larger suite - is was 2 adjoining rooms with a loft - 2 full bathrooms - very nice. With the current exchange you may be able to make the $500 / nite - we went in the spring at a less beneficial exchange rate - they also offerred a discount if you pre pay - which I did - it is worth checking it out. You will love the place

Hi -
The big advantage of an apartment is that you can purchase snacks and soft drinks at Monoprix instead of at cafes. Be sure that your girls understand that They should try French soft drinks instead of Coca Cola - Coke is a budget buster in cafes and restaurants.
The star system is related to the amenities in the hotel - elevators, bars, restaurants, gyms, etc., and the numbers of each. The stars have nothing to do with safety or cleanliness.
Take a look at the hotels on the the Ile St. Louis - it%26#39;s the most Parisian of all locations, I think.
Paris is safer than any large city in the US, and perhaps safer than any medium city in the US. Security just shouldn%26#39;t be a consideration in your decisions. The three big risks in Paris, and Rome for that matter, are pickpockets (you notice I didn%26#39;t say muggings), traffic and Vespas.
The first you%26#39;ll know about a pickpocket is when you reach into your pocket to discover that it%26#39;s empty. There will be no other notice, and you will not be at physical risk at any time.
The traffic, on the other hand, is a different story. I only cross streets when I have company. I may be wrong, but I think there is definitely safety in numbers - as in NYC - don%26#39;t make eye contact and stay together in a large clump - it implies that the vehicle will suffer greater damage than would be the case if only one person were hit.
The motos - Vespas, scooters - can be a force to be reckoned with since they can be traveling in every direction at the same time.
Beyond that, you%26#39;ll be golden.

Hi, we were a family of five in a similar situation to yours and after exhausting every possible hotel website, took the plunge on an apartment. We stayed at the following one which was huge (especially for Paris) and cost way below two hotel rooms of a lower standard. With cleaning/concierge fee it%26#39;s under $500 per night (sleeps up to 8!).

It%26#39;s a short walk down a pretty side street to the St Sulpice subway, and Rennes is maybe even closer. The neighbourhood is very upscale and we felt safe walking around, even at night. The building itself is extremely secure with digicode entry just to get into its courtyard. If you want to know more, just ask : )

Hi CT,, I haven%26#39;t stayed at the Hotel Aubusson, but I have stayed at a hotel on same street, and I will say it is the best area,, cafes, markets, and ATm , and the river all close by.. love the area. Hotel Aubusson is well reviewed also. If you could afford it that is where I would stay.
