Moulin Rouge Info please!

Hi Everyone, I am looking for some advice please. It is my hen night in March and myself and 9 friends have decided to go to Paris to the Moulin Rouge. I have found tickets for the dinner show quite cheaply with divento but am looking for info if poss?

I have heard the dinner show is not very good and is expensive, just wondered if anyone had any opinions on that? Also, if we do not eat there where else can we eat that is nearby and can we book that in advance? Finally, if we book tickets only for the show and not the moulin rouge will we get as good seats as if we booked the meal package?

Thanks!

All the seats are fairly good since it%26#39;s a smallish place. But if you book for just the show, you%26#39;ll be further back. The higher the price you pay for the dinner and show, the closer you are. Dinner is decent and it%26#39;s the same show.

Do a search in the forum for other information on the Moulin Rouge. It%26#39;s a popular topic and discussed fairly regularly.

You%26#39;ll likely find mixed opinions on the Moulin Rouge show. I personally thought it was lame. Sort of a poor man%26#39;s Cirque du Soleil. TONS of buses unloading tourists to pour in and do the obligatory item checked off their list. I would recommend you do something off the beaten path and find our own magic Paris experience. If there is something playing at the Opera Garnier, you might go to that, not for the show, but for the magnificent building. We did that, then took a long walk back to the hotel. You could stop for a nightcap or coffee along the way.

The food is lame banquet food ,, mediorce at best. I would save money and eat better by going somewhere else for dinner. A group you size would suit the livelyness of a brasserie,, check out the Flo Group Braseries http://www.flobrasseries.com . Then go for the show.

I personally agree it is lame show, I didn%26#39;t enjoy the feeling of being crammed in with the bus tours, did not feel special at all. Perhaps you could look at doing the Lido or Crazy Horse( I haven%26#39;t done them )..

The Opera is a great idea last poster, but a %26quot;hen party%26quot; is a ladies bachelor party, and many seem to like them a bit rowdier then the Opera and a nightcap at a quiet cafe,, LOL

We have been (twice) and think its a great show but i%26#39;ve not tried the dinner as its fairly basic for the money. The earlier you book the better seats you get (and trust me there is a couple of really awful seats in the venue. Ive done Lido and Paradis Latin Lido is similar but not as good (Moulin Rouge i thought was a bigger, better production with way much better music) hence the special offers Lido always seem to be dishing out!

If you search this forum you will find mixed reviews about the whole thing but I cant help thinking you will already know if the Moulin Rouge is your kinda thing or not, sure its glitzy, cheesy even and you will find more French people at a German beer fest, but its still a great night!!

There Web site has a good 5 minute clip of the show.

Hi- thanks for the replies. The show is what we want to go and see and we agreed on that a while ago and so we will definitely be going there, it was more the alternative dinner options I was interested in finding out about as I dont know Paris at all and didnt want ten of us all traipsing round hunting for somewhere nearby to go eat!

The info about the best seats going to those who pay for the meal and show was useful thankyou very much.

There are lots of good restaurants at the Place de Clichy which is a short walk away from the Moulin Rouge.

If you like seafood, try Charlot, my favourite for the mad Art Deco decor, expensive, but worth-it:

The Moulin Rouge was lame. I was really looking forward to a cool cabaret show, and was thoroughly disappointed. The dancing was lackluster and not very polished. Horrible but true, I told my wife %26quot;If it wasn%26#39;t for the boobs, I would have walked out%26quot;. My wife has been to Paris several times and says the Crazy Horse Saloon has a more traditional, more fun Cabaret show.
