We are looking at staying at one of these two hotels and wondered if anyone had comments on either? Have read on previous post the Acanthe is good. They are the same price E120 per night for 2 adults and 2 children, acanthe is a quad room and the Citadine is an apartment. Makes sense to stay in an apartment but wondered about which is in the best location. I have looked up google maps and they seem to be about the same distance from Bordeaux centre. Although the Citadine maybe be in a commercial area? Is that correct? Any comments would be gratefully accepted.

The Acanthe is located on a pedestrian street just off of the river and the renovated waterfront with its bike/skating paths, reflecting pool and gardens.
The Citadine is located in Meriadeck, a commercial/office/residential complex that was built in the 1970s according to the urban development philosophies of the time: ample space for parks, a shopping mall incorporated in the project, everything above street level so that you can walk from one end of this large area to the other without having to cross a street or look out for cars. In short, with the exception of the mall, which is self-contained, there is no reason for anyone to go to Meriadeck, so it is rather calm during the day and downright dead at night.
Both the Acanthe and the Citadine are in downtown Bordeaux, but if you want to be able to step out of the front door and be in the thick of the local atmosphere, I%26#39;d certainly go with the hotel Acanthe.

Thanks - I thought that may be the case
