Need some help - Nice or Paris?

We are trying to decide Paris and Nice for a long weekend. Can anyone suggest which would be better? I would really appreciate advice on the best time to go weather-wise and what areas are best to stay in. Suggestions on things to do would be great too! Thanks!!

What are your interests? If art, then by all means Paris if you haven%26#39;t been there before. Paris is also the better bet for a long week-end, as getting to Nice would take longer. However, Nice can be easily covered in a few days, while Paris cannot.

As for weather, we love Nice in September and October--but that%26#39;s perhaps the best time for Paris as well.

Decisions, decisions...

I love Paris, but i live in Nissa la bella and never tire of it/her.

Art is just as important in Nice as Paris so i woudl choose either place based on specific collections/artists if art is the interest.

Nice is nicer for more of the year weather wise and has more options for out of the city visits to mediaeval towns , monaco, italy as well.

I%26#39;d say that food is better in Nice than in Paris and you have the the amazing sea.

So my vote is for Nice

Paris is a massive anonymous northern European city. Nice is a small relaxed mediterranean city. much of which you can see in a long weekend, with beaches and many excellent reataurants, all in a fairly small area. For us - no contest! Try to stay near the Old Town and the Promenade des Anglais. Lots of hotels to choose from. Spring or autumn the best times. Have a lovely weekend.

I think I am going to go for Nice... I am not a huge art fan so that wouldnt be a deciding factor. I am more a nice restaurant and beach kind of girl so Nice sounds better for me! I am thinking May, what will the weather be like then?

We had a week in Nice in November, our first visit, and enjoyed ourselves so much we will be back a week tomorrow if all goes well.

We rented an apartment so were completely flexible for eating and were amazed at how cheap it was. Great street food though I will never learn to love socca (I will be banished for ever for admitting that).

Everyone was friendly and very patient with our attempts at speaking French.

Take half your luggage allowance and big cases. We staggered home with olives, prune d%26#39;Agen, cheese, vacuum-packed sausages, table-clothes, soap, ceramics and Christmas decorations.

Transport is really cheap, one euro will get you to Menton on the bus and the trains seem reasonable.

The sea beats the Seine any day. When you are fed up with Nice try Paris. Hope you have as much fun as we had.

The weather in May should be quite pleasant--warm, but not hot, and just right for walking around and enjoying the old town and the Promenade des Anglais. Nice is an easy city to explore, with good public transportation, and is a hub for regional trains. I wish I were there right now, and we only got back 3 weeks ago!
