Getting to Reims - train v's car

Hi,

My husband and will be in Paris in February we want to come to Reims and Epernay to visit the champagne houses.

We are looking at hiring a car from outside Paris and driving there and around spend 2 nights and then drive back to Paris. Being from Australia, will this be difficult to do?

Otherwise the option would be to catch a train to Reims then hire a car; we were just trying to save the 100 E + in train costs when we will be in the end hiring a car anyways.....

Once you get outside Paris, driving in France is not difficult. The roads are good and well-signposted, and usually the traffic is not heavy.

There are speed cameras everywhere, so watch your speed: 50 km/h in built-up areas, 90 km/h on ordinary roads, 110 km/h divided highway, 130 km/h autoroute. The start of 50 km/h zones is marked by a sign with the name of the town or village; the end by a similar sign with a red diagonal line across it. Quite often these are the only indication of a speed limit change.

Europcar has a location on the Avenue d%26#39;Italie which is very easy to drive in and out of. For driving directions on mappy or viamichelin, use Porte d%26#39;Italie as the starting point.

Thank you will have a look out.

I will have to remember those speed zones i do have a little bit of a lead foot, lol.

Cheers
