Couple of voucher questions...

After much deliberation and anticipation my fiance and I have booked a 5 day trip to Paris Feb 19th to Feb 24th. I have traveled here before but can%26#39;t seem to remember how I handled this situation as it was over 5 years ago I last went.

Booked through expedia.com I have vouchers for transportation from the airport to the hotel. It says on the voucher I must bring along the voucher of course but then it says under how to redeem %26quot;speaking operator will direct you to one of the terminal%26#39;s exits%26quot;. I am unsure of how to use public phones in Paris and would like to think there was an easier way to do this...any ideas? Is there a part of the airport for ParisShuttle?

Also, my %26quot;Commision-Free Exchange%26quot; vouchers don%26#39;t seem to be layed out correctly and the the sentences are broken English at best. Is there a Travelex near the Champs-Elyses and where is it located on it?

Thanks for your help! I am so exicted just want to be able to get to my hotel from the airport and contact these guys the easiest way possible.

For a single currency excange, for a small amount, a commission-less currency exchange at a Bureau de Change probably can%26#39;t do much harm. But for the rest of any €uro exchanges, you%26#39;ll probably be better off using ATM%26#39;s, which almost always provide the very best, average daily %26#39;inter-bank%26#39; exchange rate. BUT...you need to check with your local bank to find out how much (most usually a fixed-dollar amount per transaction) they charge as a %26#39;foreign ATM transaction fee%26#39;?? You also NEED to contact both your bank and any credit cards you may carry, to inform them that you will be traveling abroad....to avoid having your accounts frozen.

When you arrive at CDG, youwill simply use a phone to call the toll-free number listed. This is to notify the shuttle company that you have indeed arrived and at which of the several (10--CDG #1, CDG #2-A,B,C,D,E,F,G %26amp; TGV/RER; CDG#3) CDG terminal buildings. The shuttle company%26#39;s dispatcher will then tell you which EXIT door their shuttle van will collect you. Th edispatcher will thendirect a shuttle to that location. Most of the larger airport shuttle companies will have several vans at CDG during the day, dropping off or picking up passengers. More often than not, there will be a van waiting when you arrive at the curb, outside of the EXIT.

One of the problems that shuttle companies have with making pick-ups is that frequently, passengers give them the wrong CDG terminal building number..or..passengers go to the wrong pick-up point. You can minimize these potential problems by double-checking with your airline for which of the several CDG terminals your flight will arrive; Printing-Out the CDG Terminal Diagram for that terminal; and then remember to carry it with you to use as an aide memoire upon arrival.

The phone number will be for a free call. Just go to any public phone (there are plenty at CDG), pick it up and dial the number.

In my experience, %26quot;commission-free exchange%26quot; just means that the exchange rate is worse so the bureau de change still makes the same amount of money. Much better to take a debit card and withdraw money from ATMs. Better exchange rate, and you don%26#39;t have to carry a load of cash and worry about it being stolen.

We used a private shuttle service, http://www.shuttle-inter.com/homepage.htm

It cost e55, and you pay when he drops you off at your hotel. As part of the reservation, you give them your flight number, and they monitor the flight for updated arrival times and terminals. the driver is waiting for you with a sign with your name on it after you clear customs.

In terms of money- I got 100 Euros at my bank in the U.S. I told my bank and credit card companies I would be in France between two dates. They allowed my ATM and credit cards to be used in France only between those dates. Don%26#39;t bother with the currency exchange voucher. You get the best rate with your credit card, and the next best rate with your ATM card, plus bank fees that vary with the amount withdrawn. We averaged $1.40. The rates are VERY close.
