Hi,
My fiance and I are planning two nights in the Loire valley as part of our honeymoon and want to see three of four Chateaux in this time.
We are arriving by train on a Sunday in Tours at approximately 11am. Because it is Sunday, I have realised I won%26#39;t be able to hire a car till Monday morning. I have read on other posts that everything will be closed on Sunday. Is this correct?
If I cannot hire a car on Sunday, is there any way I could visit a Chateau (eg. Villandry) in the afternoon? I fear that we may waste our limited time by being stuck!
Thanks very much
Mark

not at all correct. Most tourist attraction (and all the chateaux) that are open at that time of year will be open on a Sunday. Chenonceaux is open every day of the year, the gardens (but not the chateau) at Villandry is open every day of the year, and Azay-le Rideau is open every day of the year except January 1, May 1 and December 25.
Hiring a car on Sunday will be a problem. You could, however, catch a train to Chenonceaux from Tours - its a 25 minute journey reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en…

I found a website (www.acco-dispo.com)site on another forum, that offers minivan tours of Loire Valley chateaux from Tours.

This is the right website for Acco-Dispo: http://www.accodispo-tours.com/
You can find other companies offering tours here: http://www.ligeris.com/excursions_en.php (it%26#39;s the official website of Tours - the city :-)
