I am planning a short break in Paris in early June with my wife and our 6 yr old daughter. I%26#39;m currently trying to figure out the best area for booking a hotel for 3 nights. I%26#39;d like it to be safe at night, centrally located (or at least easily accesible by metro) and offering dining and enertainment options for a family. Any suggestions?

I stayed with my daughter and six year old grandson for a short break last year at an Ibis hotel near the Gare du Nord, sincewe were using Eurostar. Although it worked out very well for us we thought that it would have been better if we had selected a more centrally located hotel where we could have walked back to after our evening meal. I would sugggest the Latin Quarter area close to the river.

With your little one, I suggest that you stay left bank, near the Luxembourg garden. You don%26#39;t mention your budget, I suggest this reasonably priced hotel that has great reviews, but you will may be like more than 2 stars?

I agree a hotel near Luxembourg Gardens would be nice for child.
The Latin Quarter( the 5th arrondissmont) or the 6th( ST Germain area) are both my top choices. You can walk to many sites, and the park is a great place to take mini breaks during museums and such. Many places to eat, and very safe area.

Hotel near Madeleine. Walk to Champs Elysees, Tuileries and magnificent department stores. Many buses and metros. Tell her YOUR plan for the day and she will be happy !

I vote for the Luxembourg Garden area too. We visited Paris with children several years ago, and playing in the garden was their favorite activity. It was a great, non-touristy place for us to take a break too. It%26#39;s also centrally located -- walking distance to Notre Dame and more, close to several Metro lines, including the RER to CDG airport.

I would also suggest the Luxembourg Garden area. We stayed here with our 6 year old last year and she loved it. The garden itself if full of kid-friendly activities -- the marionette show is a must do even if your child doesn%26#39;t understand french and the carousel is also great -- they have actual brass rings that kids can catch with sticks. Also, the area around the Gardens is kid friendly, not too busy, with nice toy stores and wonderful ice cream shops.
