We%26#39;ve just booked a holiday for 25 of us (adults and kids). Can you help me with the following info:
1. What are the drink and food prices like in the bars?
2. What are the prices like in the supermarkets?
3. What are the swimming pool and the bowling alley like?
4. Is there a hypermarket inbetween Geneva and Flaine and is it cheaper than the supermarkets in resort?
5. Is there anywhere we can get cheap lift passes?
Many thanks for any advice.

If you go to www.greatbritishskiclub.co.uk web site you will be able to review Flaine resort, weather, snow report and people who have been there, they say its best to stop at hypermarket on the way,
With the euro the way it stands I think France will be very expensive this year. We are going to Flaine in March however Ist time also. Lift passes can be bought on line at flaine web site however they are not any cheaper than the resort itself.
hope this helps

Neil,
Grew up skiing Flaine every couple of years, but recently I%26#39;ve had other things more demanding of my money so haven%26#39;t been for a few years - however, I am going back this year in March and can%26#39;t wait!
Food and drink prices are not cheap, but then they won%26#39;t be anywhere on the continent at the moment!
Not sure about the supermarket costs, but we%26#39;re self-catering and will be trying to pick up some food before we get to the resort - being so high up obviously adds in a cost of getting the food up there!
I wouldn%26#39;t get too excited about the swimming pool - if I told you in my 10-or-so visits I can only remember going there once that probably tells its own story. I seem to remember someone saying it may be shut this year???
The bowling alley is adequate.
If you get an answer to the lift pass question - do let me know!

We have just returned from Flaine where we spent a week over the New Year holiday. Without wanting to frighten you too much we were shocked at how expensive everything was since we last went skiing in Val d%26#39;isere 2 years ago.
1. Eating and drinking out was very expensive even though the restaurants are quite modest. Expect to pay 12 - 15 euros for steakburger and chips,22 - 28 euros for steak %26amp; chips and 18 -22 for tartiflette.Prices as usual are higher in the mountain restaurants. Soup would be about 8 euros. Soft drinks were 4 euros a can (!).
A round of drinks in the Flying Dutchman (5 pints of lager and 4 soft drinks cost us over 50 euros.
I would definately try to stop at a supermarket in Geneva to stock up although you will have to be nice to your driver to get him to make a detour ( unless he suggests the one at the airport which is fairly limited) as the usual route takes you onto the motorway very soon after you leave the airport. There were two small supermarkets in Flaine, one in Foret and one in Forum. Prices as is usual for a ski resort were high. There was a good bakers and deli next door to the Spar in Foret.
We think that we saved quite a bit by buying as many family ski passes as possible ( 2 adults %26amp; 2 children under 16).
Even though it was pricey we have a great holiday - the skiing was fantastic and the weather just perfect.
