I%26#39;m planning our first trip to Paris in April and friends have recommended staying in a hotel on Ile St-Louis. I%26#39;m trying to decide between Hotel De Lutece or Hotel Jeune du Paume. We%26#39;re a couple in our late 50s and like to stay in nicer hotels. Does anyone have a recommendation either way? Or another recommendation for that area?

Here on the forum there are literally more than a hundred reviews of the Jeu de Paume, and hundreds more than that for the Lutece - use the search box in the upper left corner - from what I read in just a couple of reviews of each, I%26#39;d probably recommend the Lutece.

There are actually four hotels on the Ile St. Louis: Hotel Lutece, Hotel Deux Iles, Hotel St. Louis and Hotel Jeu de Paume. Lutece and Deux Iles are owned by a M. Buffat who owns two other hotels, the Galileo in the 8th and the Henri IV Rive Gauche in the 5th.

We loved the Hotel Lutece, and would like to try Hotel Deux Iles. Small rooms , but a great location.

If you are willing to spring 275 euros for a small room, you can get a big room with a view of Notre Dame at Les Rives de Notre Dame not far away for about the same price. It%26#39;s in a very busy location on Quai St. Michel between Rue St. Jacques and Boul Mich. You can%26#39;t beat the convenience, half a block from a big Metro/RER station and it%26#39;s very well managed. The location is in the heart of the Latin Quarter tourist traps. You walk outside and the book sellers are right across the street. Walk inside and it%26#39;s peaceful and quiet. We love it. Ile St. Louis is very sweet but we prefer the Latin Quarter and we are in your age bracket.

Hotel du jeu de paume is best on ile saint louis.

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I%26#39;ll check out the TA reviews and Les Rives de Notre Dame.

I want to put in a vote for staying on Ile St. Louis--as opposed to staying in the Latin Quarter or anywhere else in Paris. I can%26#39;t say which hotel is better because I stayed in an apartment on the island. I think there is a special %26quot;quaint village%26quot; feeling from staying on this small island that doesn%26#39;t compare to anywhere else in Paris. The early mornings are very quiet and you see the locals opening their shops and walking with the warm bread they purchased for the day. The daytime is bustling and bristling with tourists. People continue to fill the streets in the evening as people ascend on Ile St. Louis to have dinner in its many restaurants. Then everyone goes home and the nights are very quiet and peaceful as you feel like you are the only tourists on the island. It is simply wonderful!
