Can anyone tell me about Rue d'Aboukir, 2nd arr please?

I%26#39;m also thinking of renting an apartment Between 110 and 120 rue d%26#39;Aboukir with centreparis agency %26quot; Aboukir 4 studio%26quot;.

Can anyone tell me about this street. Is it too near the red light area?

If anyone has stayed that would be even better.

Thanks in advance

Denise

Hi;

A couple years back, I was walking this area and kept seeing so many wonderfully friendly women in the doorways and thought, %26quot;What a nice neighborhood! People are so friendly here.%26quot; It did take until reaching Strasbourg-St Denis metro for me to realize why.

Friends thought that very funny but so typical. I%26#39;ve always been rather naive in that field.

I still find it hard to imagine buying such companionship...forever the romantic.

The neighborhood is a little rough, outside the usual tourist lanes. The upside of the area? Well...you are not far from central Paris.

It%26#39;s one of the few streets which are dedicated to garment trade, formerly by Ashkenazi Jews, then Sephardi Jews, and more and more by Chinese shopkeepers.

But it%26#39;s quite central and very close to Montorgueil.

Thanks to you both. Can you tell me if prostitutes hang out actually ON rue d%26#39;Aboukir or just rue St Dennis. I have nothing against them but I just don%26#39;t want to be propositioned!

On second thoughts maybe chance would be a fine thing!LOL.

Hi;

yes, that particular trade is alive and well on Aboukir, but you%26#39;ll usually only get approached if you show that special kind of interest...

My dumb farm boy look keeps them at bay...

I walked on that street from rue Montorgueil to the St Martin and St Denis arches, only saw the clothing shops, didn%26#39;t notice any %26#39;ladies%26#39;. I was walking fast, though. However, it looked ok to me and I would rent an apartment there without any fear.

What time do the Ladies come out? We are not ones for night life.

So, I guess my husband and our two teenagers should not stay on rue st. sauveur which seems to be right inside this prostitution triangle:( oh well. We found a house swap apt here but now thinking not the best area to stay with kids!

We just came back from Paris with our 2 children aged 6 and 8 and stayed near Place Pigalle and had no issue there. We did walk past lots of lit up shops at between our place and the Moulin Rouge but it was relatively tame, though we weren%26#39;t out late. The latest was NYE at 9:30 pm.

I am a longtime Paris resident and have never seen any prostitutes on Rue d%26#39;Aboukir. That street is mainly wholesalers and is perfectly safe. It isn%26#39;t even seedy. It is a 5 minute walk from rue montorgueil and the hip pedestrian part of rue montmartre. A good, central location.

The only prostitutes that you will see %26quot;streetwalking%26quot; in that area these days are directly on Rue St Denis and there are far fewer these days than in the past.

Rue St Sauveur is a nice pedestrian street that is quite gentrified already- definitely no prostitutes there.
