Apartment on rue de la tour - is this good location in Nice

Just found out exactly where our rental apartment is - near la mamma restaurant - is this an okay area of Nice?

I haven%26#39;t been along the actual road and hope someone can give you better advice, but I think it%26#39;s quiet there, and it%26#39;s 5 minutes walk fom the perfect place to stay: the old town, plus a few minutes from the bus station, so a pretty good postion.

Its a great area. We stayed in Hotel Vill La Tour in May 2007. La Mamma has great food, the area is safe, lots of shopping and food around. You will love area. Planning a longer say next time!

Looking to rent an apartment in September could you let me know how you got on with yours and how and where you booked it Thanks Frances

Will do. I just looked on holidaylettings.co.uk and holidayrentals.co.uk - it%26#39;s a bit nerve racking when there are no reviews and you wonder what it%26#39;s going to be like. I think we paid 690 euros for 6 nights - there were loads that looked nice and were even cheaper but we left it quite late.

Hi,we are staying on the same road in an apartment by La Mamma, did you have a good time and did the area live up to expectations?

Also where would you recomend to visit? We have some ideas however, would appreciate your opinion.

It%26#39;s a great location for a holiday in Nice - the Old Town is the most coveted area - rue de la Tour is a short road and close to the bus station, tram and Place Garibaldi (nice supermarket, Monoprix there). If you nip through the old town along rue Droite, you at at the main Cours Saleya market and beach, about 5 minutes. It%26#39;s on the edge of the old town so the obvious drawbacks might be noise and through traffic of people as the Old Town is a big draw for tourists but this applies to nearly all of Nice anyway during the summer. The area is fine, don%26#39;t worry.

Hello Trevor,

You%26#39;d do best to post your own question about things to do in the area otherwise you%26#39;re only attracting advice from those looking at a question about Rue de la Tour.

Obviously look through old threads first as this question has been asked and answered many times before.

Are you looking for things to do in Nice itself or the surrounding area?

What are your interests? eg Art? historical sites? beaches? markets? designer shopping? gardens? views? etc....

If you post your own question, try to give this kind of information as you don%26#39;t want to hear about the best nightclubs unless that is what you%26#39;re after.

The experts are incredibly patient and helpful if you ask the right questions.

Our favourite trip was a day in St Paul de Vence, and that would be my best recommendation - I can (and do) talk about it for hours, if you want to hear more about the place.

Have a wonderful holiday; we%26#39;re going back this Spring as we ran out of time this summer and missed many places on our list.

Cheers

Elaine
