Problem with booking Paris de Galles

This might not affect a lot of people, but I would feel bereft if I had this information and did not share it:

We booked this hotel (a Starwood Luxury Collection property) just a few days ago, with the intent of covering some of the nights with Starwood points as we earned them over the next year, thereby bringing down the pro-rated %26quot;cost%26quot; for us.

Due to just serendipity, I found out today that the hotel has been sold, and will be REBRANDED next year. A call to the Luxury Collection revealed that they could not GUARANTEE that they would honor rooms booked with Starwood points once the rebranding took place.

I just can%26#39;t take that chance. Cancelling and booking something else.

I did it again. It%26#39;s the PRINCE de Galles.

OK, update, since that was my post...I e-mailed the PdG, and got an e-mail back (which I have printed out), which basically states that even if the hotel is rebranded next year they will still honor any reservations made through Starwood, whether they are for paid rooms or points rooms.

I wrote the post above based on what Starwood RESERVATIONS told me, but I%26#39;d rather rely on what the hotel itself told me.

Hi, do not know where you get that info but yes Prince de Galles has been sold and bought by the same family who was owning the business and signed with Starwood a management contract of 40 years so a pity you had to cancel and book somewhere else ! you missed something and experience something Waow !

We booked three nights in March at the Prince de Galle through Hotwire at a great rate today....hope all goes well for us with this booking. We are looking forward to staying here.

I am thinking of doing the same thing as Warmwinds - booking the Prince de Galles and using points accumulated during the year. Is anyone able to confirm that this will still be a starwood property for many years to come? Thanks.
