getting to lourdes.

We have just booked our accomodation in Lourdes for October from the UK. As of yet we havent booked any flights as we are confused by the different airports and travelling times to get to Lourdes. Which would be the best airport to fly into and what would be the best way to continue our journey from the airport to Lourdes.

You have an option of either flying to Lourdes via Paris, (this entails a change of airports in Paris), or flying non stop from Stanstead (Ryanair) to Lourdes (Saturdays only) or Pau (daily). The only form of transport from Lourdes airport to town is a 30 minute taxi ride. From Pau airport you need to take a taxi into Pau town and then a train (30 mins.) to Lourdes. Another option is to fly to Toulouse and then take a train to Lourdes (2 hours).

You don%26#39;t say when in October you are planning to travel to Lourdes. The Ryanair flight to Lourdes is for the Winter season only and finishes on the Saturday after Easter. I don%26#39;t know when (or if) they plan to restart it for next year. The flights to Pau do not run every day in October (and leave Stansted at about 6:20 in th morning which may be impractical for you unless you spend the night near the airport). Alternatively, you could fly Ryanair to Biarritz and get the train from there. If you choose this option, get the bus or a taxi to Bayonne station. Bayonne and Biarritz stations are about the same distance from Biarritz airport but if you go to Biarritz you%26#39;ll need to change trains at Bayonne

Alternatively, you might like to consider the train option. Eurostar to Paris (2.25 hours)and then either the TGV from Gare Montparnasse (about 6 hours) or the overnight sleeper from Gare Austerlitz
