eating out

can you please tell me if there are any good, fairly inexpensive small resturants or cafes that won%26#39;t break the bank

thank you

Of course there are - and in every neighbourhood I%26#39;ve ever stayed in - who gave you the idea that every Parisian is rich?

The trick is to get a block or two off the big streets and turn one way or the other. You%26#39;ll start to see the places the locals use. You%26#39;ll never be blindsided by the cheque simply because the bill of fare including prices must be posted outside, by law.

Walk around and look at menus posted outside. Plat du jour (daily special) is always a good choice. Be careful with drinks. Sodas are expensive.

Just beyond the Relais Odean on the Blvd St Germain is L%26#39;Insulaire at 16 Rue de Gregoire de Tours. It%26#39;s a small, local restaurant and we%26#39;ve started having our first meal in Paris when we return each year. You can order and split an appitezer, have two main courses, split the cheese plate desert and a carafe of the house red wine, all for 34€00 or 35€00.

Peopple from NJ have to watch out for each other.
