dordogne to orly airport

Happy New Year. My husband and I will be driving from dordogne to orly to drop off car. I believe it is about a five and half hour drive. Can anyone confirm this and also suggest a nice stop over point half way to break up the journey. Preferably something in a smaller town or village. Thank you.

It depends a bit on which part of the Dordogne you are leaving from, but the time is about right if you stick to the autoroutes. Unfortunately, these are about as interesting as the Hume Freeway from Wodogna to Melbourne.

The town of Chateauroux is about half way, but I know nothing about it.

Thank you Sydneynick, I relate to what you are saying. I will keep searching.

If your car arrangements can be changed, I would suggest (if your destination is Paris, rather than Orly itself) dropping the car in the Dordogne (e.g., Brive or Perigueux) and taking the train up to Paris - much nicer way to spend the time!

Thank you Berkeley. We have actually booked accommodation in Amboise. Maybe we could drop the car off in Tours and then take the train up to Paris. If you had a choice of driving up to Orly with the car from Amboise or dropping it of what would you choose. Not sure what the drive is like from Amboise to Orly and how challenging it can be to drop car off. How long does the train take from say Tours or Amboise to Paris? Your thoughts appreciated. thank you very much as always.

I haven%26#39;t gone from Tours to Orly (just to CDG, which is right on the TGV line and very simple). Much of this might depend what time of day, etc., as you will need to navigate the traffic around Paris to get to Orly. If you are thinking of driving up, dropping the car and hopping on a flight be sure you allow lots of time (e.g., if it%26#39;s a morning flight you would not want to do that, because too many things could go wrong). Personally, I would be inclined to leave the car at Tours, take the TGV into Paris or to CDG, and then get a taxi or bus (I am sure there are buses regularly between CDG and Orly, although I don%26#39;t have details).
