Train from Loire Valley to Venice

Hi,

We are planning to tour the Loire Valley by car in Sept 09 staying in or near Tours/Amboise before taking a Mediterranean cruise departing from Venice. Can we catch a train or plane from the Loire Valley to Venice or do we need to return to Paris first. If the train is an option how can we find a timetable? Our travelling party includes 3 young children and my elderly parents and plenty of luggage so we are looking for the easiest option available.

You can catch a train from Tours to Lyon and on from there, but it takes ages, far better is to return to Paris - assuming youre intent on taking the train.

This may be one time when driving is the far better alternative
