Help need accommodation ideas on a BUDGET

Hi,

My husband and I are travelling over to France and will be spending 4 nights in PARIS in mid February 09.

We are looking for some budget accommodation, prefer around 50 EUROS per night (our Aussie dollar is pretty much cut in half unfortunately).

At the moment, looking at Apartment rentals etc.. and B%26amp;B - we are pretty much looking for a bed, bathroom and if available a kitchenette - something that is clean.

Has any one got any recommendations as i have been surfing the net and seen hundreds and im on overload.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Sara

50 euros per night will be pretty tough to find. I am planning for my February trip right now and have found a 1BR apt for 69Euros/night, but it is based on an 8night stay with promotion. Most apt rentals are based on 1+weeks stay... or have higher rates if you are staying less than a week.

You do have the slow season going for you. Check out vrob.com as some of the apts are available for less than a week and some listings come with a 20-30% promotional discount for the time you%26#39;re traveling. Again, it%26#39;s worth contacting a few places that you might like because if there is availability, I%26#39;d imagine that they may prefer to rent it out for 4 nights, rather than none at all.

My only other thoughts are to check out hostels. I haven%26#39;t heard much on hostels in Paris, but a quick search turned up a few for the budget-minded. Check out:

good luck!

You can probably get a 1* hotel for 50€ if you give up the idea of a kitchenette. I don%26#39;t recall ever seeing any apartments that cheap in Paris central, either.

Check this out (from a day or two ago on this forum):

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187147-i14-k24293…

The request was for a %26quot;single room%26quot; in a well-located place to stay in the 40E-80E range.

A company called Good Morning, 43 rue Lacepede, in the 5th arrondissement, 01-47-07-28-29, has 40 rooms throughout the city ranging from 38E for a single to 75E for three.

I want to say that I would be suspect of anything which costs 50E/night in Paris and has a bed, bathroom and kitchenette--and is clean, etc. My reason for saying this is that you are only staying 4 nights. Places become cheaper as you stay longer. Otherwise, often you get what you pay for.

It will be cheaper if you staying in the outer arrondissements or in the more working class arrondissements. For example, in 2007 I stayed at a friend of a friend%26#39;s apartment and she lived in the 20th arrondissement. The Metro is cheap and quick and will get you any place in the city you%26#39;d like to go in just a matter of a few minutes. So check the outer areas of the city.

When you find some place which you are considering, then list it here and ask people%26#39;s opinions or whether they know anything about that place. It will help you make your decision.

Good luck!

Yep, the euro strength is hurting us Brits badly too!

No kitchen, but basic clean budget rooms in Montmartre for about 60-70 euros per night

www.comfortinn.com/hotel-paris-france-FR326

We stayed here in March this year and found it reasonably located for the price, you%26#39;re a short walk away from the centre of Montmatre.

We%26#39;re in Paris now and staying in a small studio apartment near the Louvre which is only about 60/night : http://www.francefriend.com.

It%26#39;s a small room but very clean and a great bargain for Paris, especially given its central location (walkable to the Louvre, Palais Royal, the Seine, etc.)

|||

Paulalala: I don%26#39;t see any pictures of the apartment on that site--I see pictures of the surrounding area but not of the apartment--unless you call a picture of a croissant on a table a picture of the apartment. Did you see any apartment pictures before you decided to rent that apartment?

|||

I would be very interested in seeing some pictures of the apartment as well.

My friends are going to Paris this year and as they are on a strict budget the price would be perfect for them.

Thanks

Go to www.venere.com - they list hotels, small inns, B%26amp;Bs and apartments.

Hi Sara,

You might like to have a look at this place - I put it on my shortlist when I was doing %26quot;The Search%26quot; for an apartment in Paris.

perfectplaces.com/vacation-rentals/8106.htm

It%26#39;s in the 17th arrondissement, close to the Arc de Triomphe, so not slap bang in the centre of the city, but the minimum stay is only three nights and it could well be around your price range at that time of year. I did some extensive research and couldn%26#39;t really find anything negative about either the apartment or its immediate area. Worth considering, at any rate!
