I just can%26#39;t make up my mind:
parisianflat.com/rent-a-parisian-flat-5-rue-…
terrific right bank neighborhood, cheap, small(ish)
or
holidays-france-rentals.com/apartments/…
bigger, excellent left bank neighborhood, more expensive
I almost always stay right bank, but I thought it might be fun to go over to the sinister side for a change.

I flipped the descriptions. It should be:
parisianflat.com/rent-a-parisian-flat-5-rue-…
bigger, excellent left bank neighborhood, more expensive
or
holidays-france-rentals.com/apartments/…
terrific right bank neighborhood, cheap, small(ish)
Why oh why can%26#39;t you edit a post?

I vote for the %26quot;sinister%26quot; side. I always stay on the Left Bank mostly because I like to hang out there in the evenings and enjoy strolling around before and after dinner. It%26#39;s livelier there. The specific location of the apt. you are considering is excellent, as you noted, and the apt. itself is more appealing. If the cost is a big factor, then the Rue St. Honore apt. seems good, but otherwise I%26#39;d grab the Left Bank one.
Bonne chance et bon sejour!

The only issue for me might be, is the apt on r. St. Honoré facing the street side making noise an issue? It can be a busy street. If not, they both look very nice. But I%26#39;m a Left Bank sort so...

My boyfriend stayed at the rue régis appartment for one night; the location is great, close to Montparnasse so great to go out and catch the metro. The only negative thing he mentionned was the thin wall between the bedroom and the neighbours so he could hear them talk at night.The agency is reliable (he rented with them for one year at their other locations too).
I agree rue St Honoré can be noisy if it faces the street : it is narrow and a lot of deliveries so often traffic jams= horns honking

I like the rue regis apartment better. The other one looks more like they put partitions up to create separate rooms rather than the apartment being designed that way. I just have a better feeling about the apartment in the 5th.

My husband and I are right bank people. We stayed at an apartment that we rented thru VRBO.com in May of 2007 which was at 173 Rue St. Honore. It was double security gated, faced the street but we never heard a thing. It was literally a 3 minute walk to the Louvre, etc. We loved it because in 15 minutes we could be on the left bank, just a walk across the Tuilleries. We also loved the fact that we were very close to everything. As a matter of fact we are in the process of planning a month in Paris in September this year, perhaps longer. Any suggestions? We would like to be in a little bigger apartment, the one we rented was about 45 sq. meters, and we are looking for a little bigger living area, say 55-65 sq. meters

I understand your hesitation as both apartments look nice and are both well located.
Why not pick up the left bank one, just for a change? You will like the neighborhood, rue du Cherche Midi is very nice and you will be close to Bon Marché (yummy food store there), to La Maison du Chocolat rue de Sèvres (excellent chocolate) and to Poilâne (excellent bread)...
|||
I prefer the look of the one on St Honoré. I also think it%26#39;s much better value, but then to me the size isn%26#39;t a priority unless I plan on staying 10+ days.
|||
Well, the decision was made for me. The rue St Honoré was booked for my dates.
Left bank it is.
Many thanks to everyone who responded.
I do like Poilane bread :-)

I suggest the little tartine restaurant next door to Poilane. Yummy tartines--very popular place too. Then head to Poilane for dessert or a great bread for later.
