Live music in paris

My sons steel band are planning a music tour to Paris in July 09. Does anyone know how we go about organizing outdoor venues for them to play?

Does the band have an agent?

I imagine they%26#39;d need some permits from the City of Paris, I guess you could start with the mayor%26#39;s office (hope you are a fluent French speaker)...

This the website for the city of Paris:

Thank you for the link. We dont have an agent - it is a school band made up of 14-16 year olds. I have written to the parks and gardens office and the police ( as advised by the tourist office!) but have had no reply! I can read French but my spoken French isnt great!

On the longest day of the year anyone can play in the street, day and night.

If they can come earlier, then on 21st June anyone can play. Otherwise i have never really seen a band playing, just some people begging for money without an authorisation, exposing them to a fine/ going to the police station. So i don%26#39;t know if it is just not done or not possible.

They have a music kiosk in gardens like the Parc Floral de Vincennes, the Jardins du Luxembourg but you need an authorisation/ official Invitation to play. I guess for the Luxembourg gardens it is run by the Senate

Do you know how I would contact the Senate?Unforunately we cant come over any earlier as the students have exams until the end of June. We are there for Bastille day though - do bands play then. In the uk we play in precincts and shopping centres and just ask permission from the local council!

There is also a Music Kiosk at the Park Montsouris and I did see an American band perform there once.

Bands don%26#39;t really play on Bastille day, except for professional bands on huge stages. And we are a bit light on shopping malls over here. Hmmmmm.........

You could try Disneyland Paris.
