Ice skating at the Eiffel tower

Hi guys, I saw a post about ice skating at the Eiffel tower, and was trying to figure out if you can just walk up to the rink and rent skates and pay to skate for a while?? I would imagine that it is always crowded, but is that what people do or do you have to book a tix on line show up and go from there?? Im coming to paris for a few days in a few weeks and it sounds fun, thanks!!

The ice skating rink that was set up on the 1st level of the Eiffel Tower a couple of years ago was a %26#39;one-off%26#39; event...and has not been repeated. This season, they%26#39;ve installed some sort of %26#39;..WINTER MAGIC..%26#39; ice-sculpture display--

There are a few free (skate rental-5€) public ice skating rinks that are set-up seasonally (from Dec.20th-thru-Mar. 1st, 2009) around Paris at: HÔTEL de VILLE (4eme), PARVIS de la GARE MONTPARNASSE/Tour Montparnasse--(15eme), BIBLIOTHÈQUE FRANÇOIS MITTERRAND (13eme)--

We just returned from Paris and stayed in the Marais. I am not a skater, but the rink at Hotel de Ville was always busy, and looked like a lot of fun!! Don%26#39;t know the prices, though.
