We are flying to Paris on July 11th and are planning to drive north or west to stay for a week. The north seems interesting, but we would like to get some sun and temperatures between 22 - 25 degrees and are worried that it might be too cold for us in the north (we live in Norway and go to France to get some sun!). Is it better to go West to the La Rochelle area? We have been to the Antibes area lot and want to try something new. Our kids (9 and 11) would like to go to a Pierre et Vacances holiday village with childrens clubs and lots of sport activities. Does anyone have any experience with these (e.g. Port Bourgenay, Port du Crouesty or Branville)? Do they speak English there like they say? The alternative is to rent a house or apartment with a pool not too far away from a village or city with restaurants and activities. Any suggestione?

No reply? I%26#39;ll help as I can.
P%26amp;V villages are well run and great for kids. We used them a few years back and had a great time with the family on the Med.
English? Not what you would call fluent, but enough to be understood and not a problem. It obviously varied from person to person, but a reasonable English speaker was usually on hand or quickly called for those who needed them. We found other visitors were willing to help those with little French.
Crouesty is at the end of a promontory near a large village but a distance from other places eg Vannes is 40mins round the gulf.
Branville I don%26#39;t know but its location is very near the prime stretch of Normandy coast, Honfleur to Houlgate.
Bourgenay is 20 mins from sables d%26#39;Olonne, a major tourist town, but if you want to walk to a somewhere in the evening you would be better driving there.
Sun seems to be important. After the Med the central west coast has the most sunshine, but not quite as hot. Brittany and Normandy are a few degrees cooler on average, with a few less sunshine hours.
For location Normandy edges it. For weather the west coast edges it. For the local scenery Brittany edges it. Depends on your priorities.
Hope this is of some assistance.
