Sognu di Rena Moriani Plage?

Does anyone have any info about these apartments? We%26#39;re thinking about Corsica for next summer 2A %26amp;2C. Whilst husb and I love the beaches, scenery %26amp; food my chidren do need watersports %26amp; things to do. Mark Warner would be great for them but we do like to hire a car and do a few trips and eat out and I wondered if a SC holiday complex might be a compromise. This looks OK but I can%26#39;t find out much info. Thanks in advance.

Have you seen this information?

corsica.co.uk/Accommodation/19000235/51520/S…

As it%26#39;s brand new it%26#39;ll be difficult to get much more information here on Trip Adviser. My guess would be that if they don%26#39;t specifically mention it, there won%26#39;t be water sports etc on site, so you%26#39;d have to go further afield.

People have written here about Mark Warner, which can%26#39;t be far from this new place, generally liking it I belive, try doing a search.

thanks for the reply. It was in the Corsican Places brochure that I saw the resort. Do you know the area well? How are the beaches and are there good restaurants? We stayed north of Propriano a couple of years ago and loved it. We ate well, went canyoning, mountain biking %26amp; took boat trips. How do the resorts compare?

Thanks.

I don%26#39;t know the east coast at all well, though have passed through and stopped for a dip on numerous occasions, though I don%26#39;t think at Moriani plage.

Personally I%26#39;m not that fond of the long straight part of the east coast, although some people seem to like the beaches. It seems touristy and rather flat to me - not as nice as other parts of Corsica. It%26#39;s full of Germans (a few nudist camps). The sea often seems to be cloudy, though warm; there is ribbon development and a fair amount of it. It%26#39;s more like places you can find anywhere in the Med, although on a smaller scale, and of course you can get up into the Castagniccia behind which is truly la Corse profonde.

I%26#39;d say north of Propriano is nicer, by comparison, and many other places in Corsica are too.

But it all depends what you%26#39;re looking for...the residence as advertised looks quite smart and comfortable, which is not always a given in Corsica.

If you read French, there%26#39;s an entertaining exchange about the quality (or otherwise) of a restaurant at Moriani-plage, on the French language version of Trip-Adviser - but don%26#39;t let it put you off, it probably says as much about the nature of the French forum and Franco-Corsican relations as it does about the restaurant in question!

Moriani Plage is a small town on the main east coast road. There are plenty of facilities, including a bank and supermarket. The main road itself is busy and somewhat spoils the place. The beach is only a short way away from the road. However, the beach itself is very good, sandy and clean and stretching for miles in each direction. Don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll be bothered by German nudists! Plenty of room even in high season. Reasonable choice of restaurants including some overlooking the beach. It%26#39;s only about 30 minutes away from Bastia airport. It is easy to get away from the main road by taking the D34 in the centre of the town, when you soon reach architypal Corsican villages such as San Nicolao and Santa Reparata de Moriani. The whole of the Castaniccia region is within easy reach (but you%26#39;ll need a good head for heights!), and there is the possibility of a trip on the Corsican railway from Cazzamoza about 15 mins away, and a day in Bastia itself. So all in all not the best resort in Corsica, but far from being the worst.

I went to Moriana Plage in September and found it to be a lovely place to stay. The beach is really clean and the sea is lovely and clear, I did not see any nudists along this stretch of the beach.

The restaurants are really nice, my husband and I ate mostly at %26#39;A Pota Marina%26#39; and Bor%26#39;di Mare. The staff were really welcoming and appreciated it when you tried to speak French. The food was lovely.

There is a really good supermarket at Moriani Plage and some local shops.

We walked along the beach to the Mark Warner village and the range of sailing equipment they had seemed good and the staff were very polite and helpful.

It took us approx 20 mins to get there from the airport. We only went down the east coast on this trip and found the main road to be excellent (it runs all down the coast).

We found Moriani Plage to be an excellent location as we were only there for one week and wanted to explore the east coast, which was fabulous.

We will definately be returning to Corsica next year. We hope to go back to Moriani Plage and use it as our base to visit the north and north west of the island, also the interior. I have seen the new complex at Moriani Plage called Sognu di Rena and it looks magnificent. It would be really lovely if we could get in there as it will be all brand new.

Bastia Airport is a lovely small airport and is easy to use.
