Porte Maillot to Nanterre Ville

Hi, Never been to France before. We get off shuttle bus from Beauvaise Airport at Porte Maillot. Does anyone know if the metro train from Porte Maillot station goes direct to Nanterre Ville station, or do we need to change trains, and what line number it is.

Thank you,

baz.

Nanterre is a near northwetern suburb of Paris. NANTERRE VILLE ststion is on the RER %26#39;A-1%26#39; (Saint Germain-en-Laye) ligne.

From the BVA shuttle stop, you will have to walk down Blvd. Pershing to the PORTE MAILLOT Metro station and take the #1 Metro ligne from PORTE MAILLOT (heading in the direction of Château de Vincennes) to CHARLES DEGAULLE-ÉTOILE station (2 stops) and then switch over to the RER %26#39;A-1%26#39; ligne (heading in the direction of Saint Germain-en-Laye or Le Vésinet-Le Pecq) to NANTERRE VILLE station (10 mins...one-Way fare from PORTE MAILLOT METRO to NANTERRE VILLE RER will be 2,20€.

The only %26#39;..trick..%26#39; to this transfer is that at the CHARLES DEGAULLE-ÉTOILE station you need to make sure that you take the correct RER %26#39;A%26#39; ligne train---any %26#39;A%26#39; train with four-letter, %26#39;..X xxx..%26#39; (heading in the direction of Le Vésinet-Le Pecq), or %26#39;..Z xxx..%26#39; (heading in the direction of Saint Germain-en-Laye) designations. Train frequency will be approx. 1-every-10-mins. during most of the day and evening).

Nanterre and NANTERRE VILLE station are located out in Transportation Zone 3 from central Paris...so you will need either a separate RER ticket (fare: 2,20€) or a transportation pass valid for Zones 1-3 travel.

When coming back into Paris from Nanterre, there will be RER %26#39;A%26#39; ligne stations located across the city (Charles deGaulle-Étoile; Auber, Chatelet-Les Halles, Gare de Lyon) where you may begin from or transfer over to other regular Metro lignes to get where you want to go.

Thank you very much KDKSAIL,

Your info is well written out, and is easy to follow. I can now sit back and wait for 23 Oct.

Thanks.

Hello again,

KDKSAIL, My wife would now like to know if you can tell her roughly the cost of a taxi from Porte Maillot to our hotel (Hotel Quality Inn Nanterre La Defense

2 avenue Benoit Frachon).

We arrive at BVA at 9.10am.

Thank you.

Sorry...it%26#39;s only a guess because of the differing suburban taxi rates...but probably 25€ or so...but the route is fairly straightforward...the distance is approx 10km.

But if a taxi is a part of your %26#39;plan%26#39;, then it would be a real good idea to Print Out (the real %26#39;trick%26#39; is then to remember to carry it with you) the general Information and Map/Directions pages of your hotel%26#39;s web site to show to any taxi driver...to minimize any mis-communication--

QUALITY INN PARIS-La DÉFENSE--2 Avenue Benoit Frachon , Nanterre, FR, 92000--

OK KDKSAIL.

Have already printed small map with directions(it says 9.6 Km).

You are a mine of information.

Thank you very much.

The ONLY %26#39;..best way..%26#39; is to know what your options and alternatives are...how they %26#39;work%26#39;...what they cost...where they are...then %26#39;..fit..%26#39; these to your own personal preferences, priorities, special needs, budget and mood/moment. It%26#39;s good to have choices....It%26#39;s even better to actually know what they are so that you can use them to your advantage.

Yes KDKSAIL, We will probably use taxi from Porte Maillot to hotel/return, and use Metro and sight seeing tour buses, plus our own feet to see the sights of Paris. I have been looking at this forum, and have seen some very good advice from seasoned travelers, and will be taking their advice.

I would like to thank all of you who reply to questions as it helps so many people as well as the questionaire.

Hi baz3456,

My girlfriend and I are going to be staying in the very same hotel you mentioned here. I was just researching transfers and came across this thread from late last year. I was just wondering if you can remember how much the taxi actually was?

Thanks

Luke
