Hi all,
My fiance and I are planning to go to Corsica for a part of our honeymoon, and were wondering which would be a better place to stay. We%26#39;re heard good reviews about Calvi and Porto Vecchio. Which would you recommend as a better honeymoon destination?
Thanks!!
Diana

Diana, both would be fine for a honeymoon. Of the two you give us to choose from I would opt for Calvi, but neither would be amongst my top honeymoon destinations on the island.
I reckon Bonifacio (on the southern tip of Corsica) must be one of the most romantic towns on the planet with its ancient citadel, great restaurants, fabulous scenery, access to the nearby Lavezzi islands etc. If you wanted something quieter, I%26#39;d think about the tiny walled townlet of Algajola in the Balagne region (north west). And my third, for the record, would probably be St Florent at the south west corner of Cap Corse, in the north.
Hope the wedding goes well, and that you have a great time here. DTR

Congratulations Dammitdiana,
I assume you are going sometime this summer. The beaches bewtween Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio are very beautiful. The scenery at St. Florent and Cap Corse is most attractive, and for that matter the entire island is a Paradise. Have Fun !!

The trouble is we don%26#39;t know you, your tastes and those of the impending Mr Dammitdiana. Both places are lovely but they serve slightly different tastes. PV and the South are simpler - they offer you gorgeous beaches and Bonifacio%26#39;s citadel and harbour are spectacular. But Bonifacio itself is a bit limited beach-wise.
Calvi has more - it has a similar level of beach quality (i.e. stunning), but it also has a bit more culture to it, and more stuff to be doing and seeing. I%26#39;d also back Calvi for a better hotel range.
If you%26#39;re seeking just peaceful and beautiful tranquility, I%26#39;d be inclined to go to Porto/Piana. But if you%26#39;ve got more desire for action and interest outside of one another, I%26#39;d pick Calvi.

Hi dammitdiana, may I be so cheeky as to ask what hotels you are considering as we are also considering Corsica, and especially Calvi, as a honeymoon destination for summer 09! thanks! Lorraine
