Reims

We will be in Paris for 7 days and plan on taking a day trip to Versailles. Is there enough to see and do (other than a trip to Moet) for a day trip to Reims from Paris?

All you need is a day, we caught about a 8:30 am train and were back in Paris by 5pm.

There are several champagne houses in Reims, we visited 3 which was enough, plus I%26#39;m a light drinker and get tipsy very quickly. However, you might want to visit Veuve Clicquot and Piper Heidsieck. I%26#39;d visit two main houses and a small boutique house.

Thank you for your thoughts.

How long is the train ride?

|||

check if they are open during the winter, you do not say when you visit. Don%26#39;t forget to visit the cathedral

We will be in Paris in late December. I will check the websites for the houses.

Thank you.

|||

If I remember correctly, the ride is about 90 minutes.

Cliquot is closed for last two weeks in December. In previous post someone reported that Moet will probably be open. We are going to Reims for a day and hopefully we will find one of the houses open.

Moet is closed January 5-Feb 3 according to its website. Mumms has no mention. Pommery is closed that week.

I did this trip two years ago in the days leading up to Christmas. We drove from Paris (we rented a car at one of the larger train stations) into Reims for a brief tour and then on to Epernay where we spent the night. We stayed at a small inn that had a very nice restaurant attached where we enjoyed our champagne in front of a lovely little wood burning fireplace. The next day we toured the Moet caves. There really wasn’t much too our little trip but my husband considers it his favorite.

Question for Detwrell...when you took the train to Reims from Paris...how did you get to the Champagne tours? I read on several website that it was to far to walk. We%26#39;ll be traveling soon and wanted to do the trip on our own but I wasn%26#39;t sure of our options when we hopped off the train!
