Hi
Before answering your questions, I need to ask you what do you like doing / seeing? Museums, Churches? and what do you wnant to do on the Champs Elysees - shop, walk from one end to the other or just have a look?
I can%26#39;t comment on the Val D Europe mall and L%26#39;Vallee Village Outlet - never heard of them and I didn%26#39;t visit any malls or outlets when I spent 10 nights in Paris late 2008.

Hi DougoOz,
Thanks for the reply. Wow!! 10 days in Paris, you must have visited sooo many places.
Answering your questions, mainly I would like to see the beautiful sights and buildings in Paris and just feel the Paris environment. As for the museum, maybe just to see the Monalisa paintig and maybe spend just abt 1 hour there. I don%26#39;t plan to spend a lot of time in the museum.
In Champs Elysees, I plan to walk around there and maybe checkout some of the shops. And also would like to drop by the Galarries Lafayettes mall. And Maybe walk towards the Arc De Triumph.
Hope you can help.
Thanks in advance.

Hi nzamzam, I think you will have a full on day on 12th January and I would suggest that you start out early.
You could find out when the services are being held at the Notre Dame - they allow visitors in when the services are being held and if you do not wish to participate (or are not of that faith) you can just sit quietly or walk around quietly. No need to queue, just walk in the front door. If you want to pack a lot into your day, go to Notre Dame early in the morning - say before 9am and spend upto an hour there if you wish. By then it will be 10am or near enough to 10am which is generally the time that the other sites open up.
About a block over from the Notre Dame heading back towards the Eiffel tower is Sainte Chappelle - a beautiful old church with magnificent stained glass windows. This is really worth a visit if you can manage it and will cost you about 8 Euros (I think) to enter. The Conciergerie where the King and Marie Antoinette and lots of others were held prior to being executed is more or less next door. There is an entry cost here too.
From here you could cross over Pont Neuf to the Right Bank and you could either walk along the Seine taking in the sites or you could get on the Metro to the Louvre which is about a 10 - 15 mninute walk or you may be able to get a Bateau Boat up the Seine (I didn%26#39;t use this so I don%26#39;t know where to get one).
If you can get a Bateau boat up the Seine to the Eiffel Tower from near Notre Dame, and if you can and want to do that, then see the Eiffel Tower. after spending time at the Eiffel Tower, get the Metro to the Arc de Triomphe - you will have to change lines - and walk down the Champs Elysee, through the Tuleries to the Louvre then catch the metro back to where you are staying.
Note - when you catch the Metro and need to change lines, you should not exit through the gates as you will need to pay another fare. This would be an easier option on your feet.
As an alternative transport method you can get a 2 day hop on hop off pass which you can use on Jan 12th and 13th and this will stop at all the places you%26#39;ve mentioned. So you could get to Notre Dame first by Metro as the HOHO doesn%26#39;t start til a little later, then get the HOHO bus back to the Eiffel Tower etc - you won%26#39;t go directly there but at least you will see the sights. We got the %26quot;lime green%26quot; HOHO buses which had four different routes that intersected at various places so it was easy to get off one route, and wait for the next route to come along.
As you%26#39;ll only be in Paris a short time, I would recommend buying single tickets for public transport particularly if you are planning to use the HOHO bus too - I don;t know if you can get a day pass if you don%26#39;t want to go on the HOHO buses.
On the 13th, you could get to the places you didn%26#39;t see on the 12th or you could ride the different routes of the (line green) HOHO buses and get on an off as you please. I think there may be a web site for them but don;t know what it is so you%26#39;re best googling it.
If you have a guide book on Paris, that would be helpfulo to read it and to get a feel of where places are.

Just back from 6 days with my family and it was the first time for all of us.
While we hit all of the highlights you mentioned above, we particularly enjoyed going to Montmarte area and climbing to the top of Sacre Couer-great view from the top. We really enjoyed walking around the outdoor art exhibits and listening to the free entertainment on the steps.
In addition, the Louvre is obviously great, but we enjoyed Musee D%26#39;Orsee even more-fabulous setting and less overwhelming approach. It is very close to the Loevre, on the other side of the Seine.
The Bauteux Parissiene boats leave from the foot of the Eiffel Tower, so it is easy to combine those 2 things. Also, our first day, we started at the Arch De Triumph, walked down the Champs Elysees and through the Toulleries to the Louvre. After that we stopped for a late lunch, and then we to D%26#39;Orsee.

hi again
sorry I forgot to look at the DAYS you would be there. Lots of places close on Mondays and Tuesdays and from what I can work out from our Museum Card which we bought in Oct 08, The Arc de Triomphe is open every day from 10am, Notre Dame should be open everyday - we did see queues forming along one street but we went straight in the front door without probs. I think the queues were for either access to the crypt or the roof area - I never did find out. However my Museum Pass notes that %26quot;tours%26quot; - the towers or roof area I would imagine - and the crypt are open from 10am.
The Conciergerie and Sainte-Chappelle are open from 9am as is the Louvre however the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays. The Musee d%26#39;Orsay is a great place to visit as noted by a previous poster, it%26#39;s open from 9.30 but closed on Mondays.
The web site - www.monum.fr may shed some more up-to-date light on opening times during the period you are there.
I think the previous poster%26#39;s info about the Bateau boats is quite right but you really need to work out what suits you as far as what you see.

Hi all,
Thanks for the info. Really appreciate it, I will definitely bring this as my guide to Paris.
DougoOz, thanks for going through the hassle to check the tickets for the opening and closing time. Hope I can give you the same advice if you are coming here, Malaysia.
Other suggestions are still welcome.
Thanks again.

No problem at all - but don%26#39;t foget to check out the other links and forums for Paris on Tripadvisor as you might pick up other useful information

%26quot;have no clue about Paris%26quot; I suggest you get a map and a guide book, read it and bring that as your %26quot;guide to Paris%26quot;.

Hi, I know it%26#39;s tough to fit everything in. I had three full days in October and managed to see most things. But I now have an excuse to return and see what I missed!
We used the hop on hop off buses which were OK but a little slow moving but very good value and certainly helped getting orientated. Your ticket includes a trip down the Seine. We started the day at the Eiffel Tower then from there took the river boat down the Seine to Notre Dame. Buy a beautiful crepe at the van on the way to the wharf. We also used the Metro which was very easy to navigate, though buying tickets was a little tricky. I seriously doubt that you will fit in the Louvre. It%26#39;s massive. We ran to the most famous work of art, had our photo taken and ran through until we were just out of energy. Personally, I would ditch Disneyland. My most favourite place was definitely The Palace of Versaille. (but I%26#39;m old and I adore historial sights).

Hi nzamzam,
Paris is so wonderful I would personally not waste a day in disney land.
However,
You could schedule to check out the Monilisa in the Louvre , a cruise on Seine and a walk on the Champs.
As for Museums, Rodin and Orsay are worthwhile and as for the churches dont miss the Sacre Coeur as well as the Notre Dame.
Do the late at night or early morning trip up the Eiffel Tower this way you can omit the aerial trips on Arc de Triumph and Notre Dame.
Have Fun.
